Cumberland House System

What is PBIS?

PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. PBIS focuses on identifying, acknowledging, encouraging and reinforcing student behaviors that are positive, instead of punishing for negative behaviors that are displayed. This framework supports students achievement and creates a positive school culture.

How does Cumberland implement PBIS?

Cumberland Elementary teachers and staff are utilizing the Kickboard app to support and enhance our PBIS school culture. Kickboard tracks positive student behaviors with individual "Bear Bucks". Students accumulate dollar amounts that they can, in return, spend on prizes and special accolades.

Cumberland House System

Every student and Cumberland staff member have been assigned to one of the four houses:

  • La Valentia:

The house of bravery and courage

  • La Resistencia:

The house of strength and resilience

  • Lad Amabilidad:

     The house goodness and kindness

  • La Integridad:

The house of integrity and honesty

The houses compete against one another to receive the most "Bear Bucks" across all grade levels each grading quarter. At the end of each 9 weeks, the house winners are announced and students receive a House Celebration.
