After School Clubs

LEAPs Clubs

Metro Schools was awarded a federal grant to expand academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours in schools. Cumberland Elementary is proud to once again to be offering these after-school clubs to all students at no-cost.

  • Coding Club

    • K-4 students
    • Monday and Wednesday asynchronously
    • Students will be learning basic coding knowledge through the app Coding.org through Clever.
    • Students will learn a new skill on Monday and practice using this skill Wednesday.
  • Story Club

    • K-2 students
    • Students will listen to a story and complete an activity.
    • Activities will vary in nature- writing activities, drawing activities, craft activities, etc.
  • Dance Club

    • K-4 students
    • Monday asynchronous and Thursday synchronous
    • Students will learn basic group dances, then move into more difficult dances.
  • Chess Club

    • K-4 students
    • Wednesday synchronous
    • Students will learn the basics of the game of chess, and then practice specific chess strategies.
  • Drawing and Writing Club

    • 3-4 students
    • Wednesday asynchronous & Thursday synchronous
    • Students will complete a directed drawing, then write a story about their drawing.
    • Students will practice writing skills such as story elements, punctuation, grammar, capitalization, etc.
  • Pandas, Rhinos, and Tigers! Oh my!

    • K-4 students
    • Tuesday synchronous & Wednesday asynchronous
    • Students will learn about endangered species through a series of recorded and live lessons and crafts.
  • Beat Maker Club

    • K-4 students
    • Monday asynchronous
    • Students learn how to compose and create fresh beats and loops using virtual instruments on Digital Audio Workstation software.
    • These are step-by-step music technology lessons that will encourage students on their musical journey!
  • K-2 Story Club

    • K-2 students
    • Tuesday asynchronous & Thursday synchronous
    • Students will complete an independent picture walk through the story to find answers to questions about the story.
    • During live lessons, the group will talk about the story and the answers they found.
  • Jump Rope Club

    • K-4 students
    • Tuesday synchronous & Thursday asynchronous
    • Students will work on specific jump roping techniques/basics.
    • They will work on a routine to perform at the end of the year!
